Barrel-Finished Reserve Featured in Gambit Weekly

Atelier Vie is featured in this week’s edition (May 17, 2016) of Gambit Weekly, on page 9 of their pull-out Wine & Spirits section. Zach Hollwedel provides some insight on how “gin has moved toward a more prominent place on bar shelves, due in large part to the efforts of craft distillers and bartenders who champion craft cocktails.”

The article includes an excellent shot of our Euphrosine Gin #9 Barrel-Finished Reserve, (photo by JR Thomason) which the Gambit characterizes as “a smooth sipping gin aged in second-use whiskey barrels, which lends itself perfectly to a barrel-aged gin Sazerac.”

We’re intrigued by the idea of Barrel-Finished Reserve in a gin Sazerac and look forward to some further research on this topic. Pick up a printed copy of Gambit, or read the full article online.

Media Attention from The New Orleans Advocate, The Equipped Brewer, and The Gin Shelf (UK)

Media attention for Atelier Vie has poured forth in recent days, with three press hits from diverse sources.

First up, we’re featured in Allison Alsup’s article on urban distilleries in The New Orleans Advocate, “As more microdistilleries crop up in New Orleans, liquor about to get a lot more local.”

The article was inspired in part by our inclusion in the March 2016 issue of Bon Appétit, which listed their picks for top urban distilleries across the country.

The Advocate article includes mention of our spirits, awards, and availability around town.

Trade publication The Equipped Brewer has expanded their coverage to include distilling, with an article by Nora McGunnigle on “How to Choose the Right Distillery Equipment.” Atelier Vie is featured, sharing some tips on equipment selection and do-it-yourself strategies.

Last, but certainly not least, The Gin Shelf, a gin blog in the United Kingdom, recently acquired and reviewed a bottle of Euphrosine Gin #9. Intrepid gin reviewer Matt Burton came to our attention via an Instagram posting of a bottle of Euphrosine flanked by a pair of generously sized Gin & Tonics.

Matt’s acquisition of the first known bottle of Euphrosine Gin #9 to cross the Atlantic is due to the kind offices of his friend Jez Green, a British expat living in Arkansas, who sent him the bottle.

Matt’s lengthy commentary on the flavors, name, and geographical origin of the spirit, along with his favorite garnish idea (Mango!) is well worth reading. A delicious interlude on the mango:

“The Mango elevates the Citrus notes to a new level, and when combined with Tonic…well, that’s just Summer in a glass! It’s like being transported in to the New Orleans heat of a Summers afternoon – you can almost hear the Jazz. ‘Merriment and Good Cheer’ indeed. And I’m not ashamed to admit that I went back for more as soon as the glass was empty!”
