June 28, 2013, New Orleans — After a full year of licensed operations, New Orleans distillery Atelier Vie celebrates this anniversary with the release of two new products: Toulouse Green, a traditional green Absinthe; and Riz, Louisiana Rice Whiskey.
Toulouse Green
Toulouse Green is distilled with attention to the classic methods of Absinthe distillation and uses a formula based on traditional recipes from the late 1800s. “Our green Absinthe is pot distilled with natural herbs; no artificial ingredients, colors, or flavors are used,” said Jedd Haas, President of Atelier Vie. “We also have a special treat for visitors to the distillery. The initial bottling includes locally grown wormwood. We provided seeds to local growers last year and now we invite local Absinthe enthusiasts to enjoy this first harvest with us,” Haas continued.
Toulouse Green is bottled at the traditional 136 proof (68% ABV) and is produced from all natural ingredients. The classic method for serving Absinthe, a dilution with ice water at ratios in the range of 3:1 to 5:1, produces a final drinking strength of about 23 to 34 proof (11.5% to 17% ABV) – about the strength of a strong wine.

Riz, Louisiana Rice Whiskey
Riz, an unaged rice whiskey, continues Atelier Vie’s focus on local ingredients. “Rice is a centerpiece of Louisiana culture and cuisine and this native resource makes a fine unaged whiskey. We invite you to raise a glass of Riz and join us in celebrating a new milestone in creative Louisiana distilling. Our rice whiskey is handcrafted from 100% Louisiana rice mash in our New Orleans distillery,” said Jedd Haas, President of Atelier Vie. Riz is bottled at 90 proof (45% ABV) and is distilled according to American Whiskey standards and regulations.
Bottle Sale Hours at the Distillery
Toulouse Green and Riz will be available at the distillery June 29-30 during Atelier Vie’s Bottle Sale Hours, from 10am to 1pm both days. The retail price at the distillery is $60 for a 750ml bottle of Toulouse Green; and $40 for a 750ml bottle of Riz. See this link for directions.
